Family time is so precious. How often do we say “it only feels like yesterday the kids were born” and time is just flying by?

My approach to family photography is to create relaxed and natural images that will last forever.

I love to capture families by encouraging the kids (and parents) to relax, do what they do best and have fun, capturing the moments as they unfold and letting their personalities come to life. Kids love to explore their surroundings so location shoots are ideal for letting them do this which allows for some great photos.

For families with young children, a typical shoot will start off with a gentle family walk, followed by a quick group session to get that mantel piece shot (if wanted). After this, its time to explore the surroundings, where I capture the little ones playing with sticks, leaves, pebbles etc and parents getting in on the action. Its common for kids to be shy around unfamiliar people so I make lots of effort to engage with them at their level but at a pace of their choosing.

For older families (teenagers) my approach is very much the same by way of keeping things relaxed and freely flowing.

As well as getting pictures of everyone together, I will also aim to get pictures of the kids with each parent and individuals too.
